Description
If you're craving a refreshing and tropical drink, look no further than the mango boba tea recipe. This delightful beverage combines the creamy goodness of mango milk tea with the chewy texture of black tapioca pearls.
Ingredients
- 2 fresh mangoes (about 2.5 cups), peel the skin, remove the meaty part and discard the seed. Use champaign mangoes for extra flavors and tastiness if in season.
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup oat milk
- 1/2 cup brewed black, jasmine, green, or ginger tea.
- 1/2 cup tapioca pearls. Use up to one cup if you love them and want more! Add a teaspoon more agave if using 1/2 cup of tapioca pearls.
- 1/4 cup honey or agave. Use 2 tablespoons for soaking cooked tapioca pearls and the rest to put in the blender.
- 6-8 cups water for boiling tapioca pearls
- Crushed ice. Optional for added fun and chill to the glass of bubble tea.
Instructions
- Start by preparing the tapioca pearls. In a small pot of water, cook them in boiling water until they become soft and translucent. Drain and rinse them under cold water. Place them in a small bowl, then soak them in brown sugar syrup for added sweetness. Set them aside.
- Brew a cup of black, jasmine, green tea, or ginger tea and let it cool to room temperature.
- Peel the skin off of the mangoes and slice the meaty part from the seed into large chunks. Next, combine the ripe mango, milk, brewed tea, and your choice of milk in a blender. Blend until well mixed to create a smooth and creamy mango smoothie.
- Fill a glass with cooked tapioca pearls. Pour the mango tea mixture over the tapioca pearls. Feel free to add some crushed ice, too, for an added refreshing taste.
- Stir well to combine the flavors. You can alternate pouring between boba pearls and mango puree until you fill up the glass to get more pearls to float to the top of the glasses. Add more honey or milk to taste.
Notes
- You will need to grab some extra large straws as regular straws are too small to use for those round tapioca balls. Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less simple syrup or brown sugar syrup.
- You can find tapioca pearls and popping boba at specialty grocery stores or online.
- For a dairy-free version, use coconut, oat, soy, almond, or any other milk you choose.
